FOOTBALL NEWS AROUND THE WORLD

Wenger keeping the Gunners on track

Alexis Sanchez: Could be risked on Sunday

The Gunners were beaten 3-2 in London last December and Wenger and his players came in for criticism from angry supporters as they boarded their train back to London.

This season there is more goodwill from fans as Arsenal sit top of the Barclays Premier League despite conceding a last-gasp equalizer in a 3-3 draw at Liverpool on Wednesday.

And, despite his belief that there could be an escalation in such occurrences in the future, Wenger has no plans to change the way the team travel to Stoke - where Arsenal have won just once in the league in the last 25 years.

When asked if Arsenal would travel by train again, Wenger replied: "Yes. We travel in what we think is the best and the shortest way. You want as well not to be isolated because you want too much contact with people who love the club , you want contact with the fans.

St Etienne bid to re-sign Tabanou

Franck Tabanou: Returning to St Etienne

Tabanou joined Swansea in a £ 3.5million deal from the Ligue 1 club last summer but has found first-team opportunities extremely limited at the Liberty Stadium.

But the former France Under-21 left-back now seems ready to return to Les Verts in this month's transfer window.

"There is an agreement in principle between Swansea and #ASSE #Tabanou Franck wants to come back and I want to see Frank," St Etienne coach Christophe Galtier said on the club's official Twitter account.

Galtier said in L'Equipe: "We now need to make it contractual between all parties.

"I have not met Franck this week. He came to see his friends.

"But I hope he returns to St Etienne. This is where he feels best."
