Lloyd is third American to win top FIFA women's player award

Lloyd scored a hat trick to lead the USA to a 5-2 win over Japan in the 2015 Women's World Cup final. She scored the fastest goal in World Cup final history (154 seconds) and became the first female player to score a hat trick in a World Cup final, scoring three goals in a 16-minute span.

Her strike from midfield completed the hat trick and was voted Goal of the Tournament and was nominated for the Puskas award as the FIFA Goal of the Year.

Lloyd won the Golden Ball as the Women's World Cup MVP and also won the Silver Boot as the second leading scorer at the tournament, scoring in all four elimination games and finishing the tournament with six goals total. She led the U.S. women’s national team with 18 goals in 2015, a career high for her in a calendar year and surpassing her previous high of 15 scored in 2012.

Adnan Januzaj must sort his attitude out if he wants to be a star at Manchester United

Adnan Januzaj has returned to Manchester following a disappointing loan spell with Borussia Dortmund.

The young winger was supposed to stay with the Germans until the end of the season, but the player asked to leave early and the Bundesliga club did not stand in his way.

With half the season gone, Januzaj failed to start a single game, with the manager, Thomas Tuchel, critical of the player’s attitude.

‘It is a pity he did not show the desire and attitude you need to progress at his age,’ Tuchel revealed.

‘My feeling was that he never was completely with us, that a part of him always stayed in Manchester and he compared everything here with United. We were not able to help him to shake that off.’

This isn’t the first time his attitude has been questioned, with Januzaj receiving bad press after turning down the opportunity to play for Belgium’s under-21s earlier this season.

Having played at the World Cup the summer before, Januzaj gave the impression he thought he was too good to play for a youth side.

Louis van Gaal claimed he thought Januzaj should have joined an English club, rather than making the move to a good club in Germany where he wasn’t guaranteed playing time.

It is clear now that Januzaj should have taken that advice.

There was no recall clause included in the player’s contract with Borussia Dortmund, which meant United didn’t have the possibility of bringing him back to Old Trafford if they had wished to.

However, now that Van Gaal has no choice but to have him in the squad, it will be interesting to see how Januzaj is used.

Morrison: Cup run still on the cards for West Brom

James Morrison is hoping to help Tony Pulis repeat his 2011 FA Cup run to Wembley with Stoke after West Brom drew their third round clash.

James Morrison spared West Brom's blushes with a late equaliser to force an FA Cup third round replay against Bristol City, but he believes a cup run is still on the cards for the club.

West Brom trailed Bristol 2-1 at home before Morrison struck in the fifth minute of stoppage time to keep his team in the hat for the fourth round draw.

Saido Berahino had put West Brom 1-0 up after 67 minutes, before Jonathan Kodjia and Kieran Agard scored one each to put the visitors ahead.

It made for a stuttering start to West Brom's campaign, but a drawn third round clash is familiar territory for manager Tony Pulis, who took Stoke City to an FA Cup final in 2011 after drawing their third round clash away to Cardiff.

Morrison is hoping for a similar achievement in 2016.

"The manager said after the game when he got to the final (with Stoke in 2011) he drew his first game at Cardiff," Morrison told the Birmingham Mail.

"There’s another chance to get into the next round which is the main thing at the end.

Manchester United Football Club are clearly trying to bring in a striker this January window, and one man who has been linked with an Old Trafford move is Everton’s Romelu Lukaku. However, according to the Sun on Sunday, the Belgian will snub any approach from Manchester United.

The English publication say that 22-year old Lukaku is happy with life on Merseyside, and wants to stay at Goodison until at least the summer.

It shows exactly what a sad state of affairs Manchester United are in at the moment, and its bitterly disappointing. You can hardly blame Lukaku for not wanting to come to the club, we play dull, lifeless football that isn’t at all attractive to watch, never mind participate in.

On the flip side of that, if we can somehow persuade him to join in the summer he certainly wouldn’t come cheap, and Everton will be looking to make a profit on the £30million they paid to land Lukaku from Chelsea.

The Reds have 13 players out through injury but Wenger expects a lot of them to be back before their game against the Gunners, jesting that it has always been the case when they play a top opponent.

The Gunners are currently top of the league table, two ahead of Leicester City and have a run of three important games which can define their season ahead. The north London club have taken only two points from the corresponding fixtures last season and need to put up a much better performance if they have to come out with a considerable share of the spoils this time around.

Liverpool legend Mark Lawrenson expects the Reds to welcome back at least three players ahead of their game against Arsenal at Anfield, which would give them a fighting chance to put one over the Gunners and get their season back on track. The Reds currently have 13 players out through injury, including their first choice central defenders, but Lawrenson expects Mamadou Sakho and Kolo Toure to be back for the clash, which would give them some much needed solidity in defence against a fluid Arsenal front three.

Jordon Ibe is another player who was rumoured out with a hamstring injury but Lawrenson expects him to be back, thus filling up the numbers in what will still be a depleted side available for the manager. Daniel Sturridge, Danny Ings and Divock Origi remain out in attack, while Jordan Henderson and Philippe Coutinho are also on the treatment table.
